I'm finding the process of trying to decipher how our solar is getting applied on a monthly basis by the utility on our electric bills. This seems to be a surpringly difficult thing to figure out. Our solar installer wasn't much help, although they did a good job installing our system.

Surprising as it sounds, I sometimes think the best way for customers to understand how solar works on an electric bill is by contacting calling the utility company. Lots of solar companies and NGOs offer video tutorials on how to read solar credits on an electric bill - but, I think it's helpful to go directly to the belly of the beast, so to speak. I think the best tutorials on net metering & understanding how to read solar onan electric bill is when you look at your own energy usage and electric bill.
