Has your HOA pushed back on your solar install? Let's compare notes

Curious how many people here have run into HOA resistance when installing solar — and how it played out.

We keep seeing the same pattern: homeowner submits plans, HOA comes back with vague objections about "aesthetics" or panel placement, and the whole thing stalls for weeks or months. Most people don't realize that in a lot of states, HOAs are legally limited in how much they can restrict a solar install — they can regulate placement and screening, but they generally can't deny it outright or make it so costly/inefficient that it's not worth doing.

We put together a longer breakdown of what HOAs can and can't require (and the actual steps to take if you get a denial) here, if it's useful: Can Your HOA Really Say No to Solar? (update link once the blog post is live)

But I'm more interested in real experiences: did your HOA push back? What did they object to, and how did you resolve it — did you appeal, negotiate a compromise, or end up needing outside help? Would love to hear how it went for people, good or bad.
